Busch wins his 6th straight NASCAR Trucks race

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Kyle Busch won his sixth consecutive NASCAR Trucks race, tying a series record, on Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Busch, in his fifth and final trucks start of the season, won for a series-best eighth time at Charlotte — finishing first or second 11 of 13 races.

He took Stage 2, had a large lead of 6.125 seconds before a late-race caution and cruised to his 56th career trucks victory on a three-lap restart. He led 102 of the 134-lap, 201-mile race, despite starting in eighth place, to tie his consecutive wins streak from 2013-14.

"This Tundra was awesome tonight," Busch said of the No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota. "It was flying and it was fast. We worked on it a lot in practice. We were a little off when we unloaded, and we tried to make it better and better and better."

Brennan Poole took second, 1.115 seconds back, for his best career finish. Stewart Friesen rallied for third, followed by Ben Rhodes and pole-setter Matt Crafton.

"My truck was all over the place, man," Poole said after dealing with mechanical issues. "I just gave it everything I had. I found something running the top lane there on the restarts, and it worked out really good."

Ross Chastain, last week's winner at Kansas, had his eighth straight top 10 finish this season.
