Just one week after the manufacture's 13th win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi returned to a victory lane in another twice-round-the-clock endurance race known as the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

Christopher Haase, Christian Mamerow, Rene Rast and Markus Winkelhock drove their Audi R8 LMS ultra en route to victory in a record-breaking 159 laps around the 'Green Hell.'

The race saw its fair share of incidents, such as one where a Dodge Viper almost collided into a safety car while passing through a safety zone.

The Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS entry, however, was able to avoid all that and spent the early hours battling the Black Falcon Mercedes team. Eventually, the Audi pulled out in front and won by 2 minutes and 59 seconds.

Audi also achieved success in the SP3T and SP4T classes with the Audi TT RS.

"Sincere congratulations to the winners and a sincere 'thank you' to our customers for their appearance at the Nürburgring," said Romolo Liebchen, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. "We saw a true classic this weekend in which all the qualities of endurance racing were crucial: first-class technology, reliable drivers, a good strategy and a solid team performance. I'm happy that we managed to clinch our second victory in three years against such fierce competition in one of the world's toughest endurance races. Congratulations also to our customers in the SP3T and SP4T classes. For Audi Sport customer racing, the weekend could hardly have been more successful."
