San Jose Earthquakes 2, New York Red Bulls 1

Rookie Adam Jahn scored his first professional goal and then set up Chris Wondolowski's game-winning penalty in second-half injury time that gave the San Jose Earthquakes a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday night.

Wondolowski scored in the 92nd minute with his second try at the penalty kick, which initially came about when Jahn headed a corner kick into the left arm of New York defender Roy Miller. New York goalkeeper Luis Robles saved the first attempt by Wondolowski, who tied the MLS all-time single-season scoring record last year with 27 goals, but referee Ricardo Salazar awarded San Jose another chance after Miller entered the penalty area too soon.

Given another opportunity, Wondolowski tucked a well-placed shot inside the right post.

Jahn, who came on as a substitute in the 66th minute because forwards Alan Gordon and Steven Lenhart were injured, came up with the equalizer in his second MLS appearance. The Stanford product volleyed home a whipped cross from San Cronin in the 83rd minute, leaving Robles no chance to make a save.

New York had taken the lead through Eric Alexander in the 17th minute, but once again could not hold on for new coach Mike Petke's first win. The Red Bulls coughed up a 3-1 halftime lead in Portland last weekend, with an own goal being the capper in an eventual 3-3 tie.

San Jose, which scored a league-best 22 goals in the final 15 minutes of matches last season, floundered offensively for much of the night until substitutes Cordell Cato and Jahn began to make an impact.

Cato drew a free kick in the 80th minute, and forced a diving stop from Robles two minutes later. A minute after that, Ramiro Corrales played Cronin down the left wing and his cross found Jahn open at the back post.

Chivas USA 3, FC Dallas 1

Oswaldo Minda scored in the 76th minute and Chivas USA rallied for a 3-1 win over FC Dallas on Sunday.

Down 1-0, Juan Agudelo tied the game with a left-footed finish in the 68th minute. After Minda scored to give Chivas USA a 2-1 lead, Giovani Casillas added a goal in the 90th minute.

David Ferreira opened the scoring for FC Dallas early in the 57th minute.

FC Dallas played without suspended forward Blas Perez.

Ferreira scored his first goal of the season when he got past Chivas defender Joaquin Velazquez and slipped a shot between goalkeeper Dan Kennedy's legs.

Agudelo evened the score when he beat a pair of defenders and scored from just inside the penalty area. FC Dallas' defense again gave Chivas some space on the eventual game-winning goal.

George John could not control a pass that fell to Minda, who took his time and beat FC Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez.

Casillas scored in stoppage time on a counterattack.

Colorado Rapids 1, Philadelphia Union 2

Jack McInerney scored in the 79th minute as the Philadelphia Union defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Sunday.

Amobi Okugo added a goal for Philadelphia (1-1). The third-year MLS expansion team was 0-3-2 in the first five meeting with the Rapids.

Antoine Hoppenot found McInerney in stride along the right side. Hoppenot beat goalkeeper Matt Pickens past the left hand to break a 1-1 tie.

Jamie Smith scored in the 69th minute for Colorado (0-2). The Rapids had been unbeaten (6-0-3) in their previous nine home openers.

The Union got their first goal off a corner kick by Sebastian Le Toux. Okugo outmuscled Colorado defender Marvell Wynne for the ball and put the ball into an untended part of the net.

Colorado lost injury-plagued midfielder Pablo Mastroeni to a left hamstring injury in the seventh minute.

The Rapids had two chances get away early in the second half. Brown caught all turf on an empty net opportunity, and a second chance from 20 yards sailed past the left post in the first seven minutes.

Michael Farfan broke free along the right sideline in the 57th minute, but goalkeeper Matt Pickens came well out of his crease to keep it a one goal lead.

The Union had a goal by Brian Carroll waved off by an offside in the 59th minute.

Smith scored on a long pass by Brown in the 69th minute. Smith got behind the defense and sent a left-footed shot past MacMath.

Philadelphia responded with McInerney's winner in the 79th minute.
