Real Salt Lake selected midfielder Jarad vanSchaik on Thursday with the 52nd overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft.
The team traded its first-round pick (No. 14 overall) to Chivas USA, acquiring allocation money in exchange.
VanSchaik was a four-year starter for the University of Portland. He played three seasons with current MSL midfielder Collen Warner.
