Pontius and Davies lift United over Toronto FC

Chris Pontius scored twice and Charlie Davies continued his comeback from a near-fatal car crash with a goal in his first MLS start to help D.C. United beat Toronto FC 3-0 on Saturday night.

It was Davies' fifth goal in four games for United (2-2-1). His previous four, three from penalties, came in 120 minutes off the bench. He could have had another in the 89th minute Saturday had it not been for a fine reflex save from goalie Stefan Frei.

The 24-year-old striker is on loan from France's Sochaux. And he looked good on the comeback trail after suffering a broken and dislocated elbow, broken bones in his right leg, and broken nose, forehead and eye socket in the October 2009 crash that killed another passenger.

It was a night where little went right for Toronto (1-2-3), which had been unbeaten in its last four games.
