Montreal Impact 2, Chicago Fire 0
Andres Romero and Marco Di Vaio scored in the second half, lifting the Montreal Impact to a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday.
Montreal (5-1-1) improved to 3-0-1 at home and won for the first time since beating visiting New York on March 23. The Impact lost 2-0 at Sporting Kansas City a week later and had a 1-1 home draw with Columbus on April 4 in MLS play, and lost 2-0 at Toronto on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals.
New England Revolution 2, Philadelphia Union 3
Diego Fagundez ended New England's scoreless streak at 539 minutes and the Revolution beat the Philadelphia Union 2-0 on Saturday night.
New England (2-3-2) scored a goal in its season opener, but did not put the ball in the net in five-plus matches thereafter, having been credited with an ''own goal'' last week in a match last week at New York.
The 18-year old Fagundez gave the Revolution into the lead in the 61st minute, finishing off an exchange of well-executed passes from Lee Nguyen to Kelyn Rowe.
Nguyen made it 2-0 in the 71st minute, initiating the sequence with a run into the penalty box, and finishing off a rebound of a shot taken by Saer Sene.
Columbus Crew 3, D.C. United 0
Dominic Oduro, Josh Williams and Federico Higuain scored in the first half to help the Columbus Crew beat D.C. United 3-0 on Saturday night after a videoboard fire delayed the start 50 minutes.
The teams were warming up when the blaze broke out in the top of the videoboard in a speaker cabinet above the south stands about 25 minutes before the scheduled kickoff. Fans were cleared from the area and no one was injured, team president Mark McCullers said.
Oduro put the Crew (3-2-3) ahead in the 15th, Williams scored off Higuain's corner kick in the 26th, and Higuain a penalty kick in in first-half stoppage time.
Portland Timbers 3, Sporting Kansas City 2
Rodney Wallace scored in the 58th minute, lifting the Portland Timbers to a 3-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.
Ryan Johnson had a goal and an assist for Portland (3-1-4), which extended its unbeaten streak to six matches and has won three of its last four. Wallace's winner came off an assist from Diego Chara.
Chance Myers scored the first two goals of his career for Sporting (4-3-2), including the third-fastest score in club history, but it wasn't enough to keep Kansas City from taking back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
LA Galaxy 2, Real Salt Lake 0
Brian Rowe faced a hostile environment in his MLS debut. It did not seem to faze the Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper.
Mike Magee and Charlie Rugg scored early in the first half and Rowe picked up the shutout to lead the Galaxy to a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.
Rowe became the first goalkeeper to earn a clean sheet in his MLS debut for the Galaxy (4-1-2) since Brian Perk in a 0-0 draw against Seattle on July 4, 2011.
San Jose Earthquakes 2, Chivas USA 2
Cordell Cato scored in the 76th minute to help San Jose erase a second-half deficit as the Earthquakes and Chivas USA played to a 2-2 tie Saturday night.
The result kept both clubs winless in April. San Jose (3-3-4) last won on March 23 while Chivas (3-4-2) hasn't won since March 30.
San Jose opened the scoring in the 40th minute, with Chris Wondolowski finishing off a cross from Shea Salinas.
Chivas took the lead with a pair of quick goals. In the 47th minute, Jorge Villafana sent a cross to the front of the goal. San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch tried to punch the ball away, but instead had it bounce off Chivas' Mario De Luna and across the goal line.
San Jose tied in the 76th minute. From the left side, Salinas whipped a cross to the middle of the penalty area and Cato knocked the ball into goal.
New York Red Bulls 2, Toronto FC 1
Tim Cahill scored twice, including a header in the 89th minute, to give the New York Red Bulls a 2-1 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday.
Cahill's tiebreaking goal came off a cross by Thierry Henry and gave New York (4-4-2) its second straight win and third in its past four matches.
Jonathan Osorio had the tying goal for Toronto (1-3-4) in the 83rd minute. Ryan Richter played the ball back to Osorio, who paused to tee up a high shot that sailed over New York goalkeeper Luis Robles and glanced off the crossbar and in the net.
