Chris Wondolowski scored for the third time in four games to help the San Jose Earthquakes pick up their first home victory of the season, 3-0 over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night.

Steven Lenhart, acquired from the Crew before the season, scored his first goal for San Jose. Khari Stephenson rounded out the rout with his second goal of the year.

San Jose (2-4-3) won for the first time in seven matches and snapped Columbus' unbeaten streak at seven.

The Quakes won despite playing a man down for the final 11 minutes after Brandon McDonald was ejected following an off-the-ball incident with Columbus forward Tommy Heinemann after a San Jose corner was cleared.

Columbus dropped to 3-2-4.

Wondolowski, the MLS' leading scorer last year, moved into third place in the scoring race this season with his fifth goal of the season. With both Columbus center backs occupied by Lenhart, Wondolowski got into the middle of the Crew's defense and volleyed home Ryan Johnson's cross from 7 yards out in the 50th minute.

Lenhart scored in the 59th minute with a powerful header off Joey Gjertsen's corner kick.

Stephenson hammered a 25-yard shot into the upper left-hand corner in the 62nd minute, leaving Columbus goalkeeper William Hesmer no chance.

Columbus was unable to created much danger on its attack even after McDonald's straight red card. San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch made six saves, three in the final 25 minutes, to secure the Earthquakes' second shutout of the season.
