D.C. United beats Harrisburg City 2-0 in U.S. Open Cup

D.C. United scored early in both halves in a 2-0 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup.

Branko Boskovic scored 44 seconds into the game and Thabiso Khumalo added a goal in the 47th minute for United, who will host the Columbus Crew in the semifinals Sept. 1 at RFK Stadium.

Harrisburg City finished the game with 10 men after Tyler Ruthven was issued a red card in the 75th minute. The Islanders play in the United Soccer League's second division, two rungs below MLS team United.

Bill Hamid got the shutout in goal for United.
