Beckham, Henry top MLS salary list

Robbie Keane became the fourth-highest-paid player in Major League Soccer when he left Tottenham last month to sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Irish forward has a base salary this year of $2,917,741, according to figures released Friday by the MLS Players Union. His total compensation is $3,416,243, including a prorated share of his signing bonus and other guaranteed compensation.

Galaxy teammate David Beckham is first with $6.5 million in guaranteed compensation, followed by New York Red Bulls teammates Thierry Henry ($5.6 million) and Rafa Marquez ($4.6 million). The Galaxy's Landon Donovan, at $2.3 million, dropped to fifth.

For Toronto's new signings, forward Danny Koevermans has a $999,996 salary and $1,413,319 in compensation, and midfielder Torsten Frings has a $699,996 salary and $1,113,663 in compensation.

Among other new MLS players, midfielder Freddy Adu has a $475,884 salary and $594,884 in compensation with the Philadelphia Union; and goalkeeper Frank Rost is at $545,460 with the Red Bulls.
