Phillies' Maikel Franco likely to avoid DL

Maikel Franco will be out of the lineup for a few more days, but the Phillies aren't expected to send him to the disabled list.

Franco, who left Monday's game with right elbow soreness, will likely sit until Friday, when the Phillies take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

With an off day on Thursday, interim manager Pete Mackanin said Maikel would likely rest for a few days as a precautionary measure.

"It's just a day-to- day thing," Mackanin told Philly.com. "I think he's going to be fine."

The Phillies wrap up their homestand Wednesday with a matinee against Tampa at Citizens Bank Park.
