Miguel Cabrera could start at third base on opening day

The Detroit Tigers open up their season against the Miami Marlins, leaving the team without a designated hitter.

As a result, manager Brad Ausmus is keeping his options open -- including starting Miguel Cabrera at third base:

Cabrera, 32, played in 119 games last season, but didn't record an inning in the hot corner.

Still, Cabrera's bat is just too good to keep out of the lineup. He claimed the batting title in 2015, hitting .338 with 28 homers and 76 RBI.

After this series, though, he'll likely go back to the DH role, rotating at first base with Victor Martinez with Nick Castellanos filling in at third.
