NEW YORK (AP) — New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom was activated from the 10-day injured list and was set to start Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The NL Cy Young Award winner reported soreness in his throwing elbow last week after going 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in his last two starts.

The 30-year-old right-hander had an MRI Monday that did not show any problems, according to general manager Brodie Van Wagenen.

New York also recalled right-hander Corey Oswalt from Syracuse and optioned right-hander Jacob Rhame and infielder Luis Guillorme to the Triple-A team.

Rhame was suspended two games this week by Major League Baseball for sailing two fastballs over the head of Rhys Hoskins during a tense series against Philadelphia. Hoskins homered off of Rhame on Wednesday night and took 34.23 seconds to round the bases, the slowest in the majors this year.

"The plan is right now for him to appeal it," Mets manager Mickey Callaway said.
