Marlins pitcher's beard will play a big role in his free agency

Andrew Cashner will be among the best starters available in an extremely thin free-agent pitching market this offseason. And it’s probably safe to assume he isn’t returning to the Marlins.

Not because of his lack of success (1-4, 4.78 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) since his trade from San Diego to Miami in late July. And not necessarily because the Marlins won’t be able to afford him.

In case you’ve grown accustomed to seeing him without that huge woodland creature on his face, here’s what Cashner looked like while with the Padres:

So, the Yankees probably can forget about signing him, too. Then again, all those millions of dollars could buy some really nice razors.
