The Minnesota Twins are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now and they have one of the best closers in the game.

Glen Perkins worked a perfect ninth inning for the Twins in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox, earning his MLB-leading 18th save of the season.

Perkins has been outstanding this season, posting an impressive 1.19 ERA with zero blown saves and only three earned runs in 22 2/3 innings of work. Opponents are batting only .218 against him and he is holding them to a WHIP of 0.93.

Perkins has pitched three of the last five days and is looking forward to a bit of rest, according to the Star Tribune.

"[Thursday] is an off-day, so that's good timing," Perkins said. "I have been good this year. I have felt good. Ever since I took the last two weeks of the season off last year, I have felt good. So no worries, and I'm glad that I get a lot of opportunities to pitch."

Many are doubtful that the Twins will be able to sustain success throughout the season, but if they do, Perkins is going to have to be a big part of it.
