The White Sox hope to bolster their bullpen with the return of reliever Dan Jennings, who was activated off the disabled list Wednesday.

The lefty specialist had been sidelined since June 5 with neck inflammation. Before his injury, Jennings had a solid start to the season, posting a 2.31 ERA on May 3 through 10 appearances. But he struggled through May and part of June, carrying a 7.83 ERA to the disabled list.

Jennings allowed two earned runs over six innings in three rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte.

To make room for Jennings on the roster, the White Sox optioned right-hander Junior Guerra to Triple-A.
