South Korea's Hyemin Kim wins first Symetra Tour title
WINDSOR, Calif. (AP) South Korea's Hyemin Kim won the rain-shortened POC Med Golf Classic on Sunday for her first Symetra Tour title, closing with a 2-under 67 for a two-stroke victory in the first-year event.
The 28-year-old Kim finished at 7-under 137 at Windsor Golf Club. She earned $15,000 to jump from 44th to fifth on the money list with $17,103. The top 10 at the end of the season will earn 2018 LPGA Tour cards.
''I tried to not think about winning today, but it is amazing,'' Kim said. ''It has been a while without winning, but I am so happy that I was able to win on the Symetra Tour.''
Thailand's Benyapa Niphatsophon was second after a 69. She leads the money list with $19,045 in three starts.
The trophy was an engraved bottle of Kendall Jackson wine.
''I think I need to empty that whole bottle,'' Kim said. ''That would be a great celebration for me.''
