Report: Golf course worker in coma after being struck by ball
A Florida golf course groundskeeper was reported to be in a coma Wednesday after being struck in the head with a golf ball.
Maurice Hayden, 42, was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in critical condition following the incident at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, myFOXorlando.com reported.
Beverly Canty said her brother-in-law's prognosis is not good. "He's not doing very well at all. He is in a coma," she told myFOXorlando.com.
Investigators said Brian Donohue, 35, was teeing off when his ball hit Hayden in the head.
Golfer Mike Galloway said paramedics gave Hayden CPR on a golf cart after he was hit by the ball, which was traveling about 130 miles per hour.
"He was always sweet and nice to me and always waved to us. It's a really unfortunate accident the day before Thanksgiving," Galloway said.
The Sanford Police Department is investigating the incident but officers said it was an accident.
