Police say a drunken man was arrested after using the center of the historic German city of Cologne as a golf driving range.

The 44-year-old rogue golfer began hitting balls down streets in the city Saturday, the DAPD news agency reported.

One of his errant shots reportedly hit a taxi, and the driver confronted the man after hearing a loud bang and discovering a golf ball next to his vehicle.

But when he was approached, the golfer began swearing and packed up his clubs, according to reports.

The taxi driver called police after he said he noticed the golfer was carrying a knife. Police arrested the golfer on charges of dangerously interfering with traffic, property damage and abusive and threatening behavior. Police say he was kept in cells to sober up.
