Tiger Woods in the second cut on the right-hand side off the 18th tee. Hits a gorgeous cut 8-iron just beyond the pin. Has about 7 feet for birdie. And it's in, for a 66 and a total of 7 under.

From the tee at 17, Tiger's just off the fairway to the left. He needs to go over the trees. Calling for it to bite, but it goes 10-15 feet over the green. He chips up close and makes par.

And the downhill putt just will not turn toward the hole. Tap-in par.

He's in the zone. Tiger Woods' tee shot at 16 lands just beyond the pin. It's not a tap-in, maybe 5 feet.

Rory McIlroy's chip at 15 goes off the front of the green. The grass is short enough that he can still putt. He two-putts for par.

Finishing with seven straight pars, Phil Mickelson shoots a 72 and is at 2 under. He has to hope that McIlroy comes back to the field a little and doesn't run away.

Phil Mickelson's over the pond at 15 in two, but in the second cut to the right of the green. His pitch comes up very short, though. His birdie try runs 4-5 feet past the cup. he runs it in for par.

Fred Couples shoots a 68 to finish at 5 under.

Phil Mickelson rips a drive right down the middle at 15. He seems to be driving the ball much better than yesterday.

Alvaro Quiros into the back bunker with his second shot at 13. That's going to be a tough up and down for birdie. He hits a nice bunker shot, but can't make the 40-foot putt for birdie.

Tiger Woods can't get to the first green in regulation, and his third shot fails to make it up to the top level of the green where the pin is. He can be heard to utter his first profanity of the day (although we might have missed one on the tee). he two-putts for bogey.

K.J. Choi lays up at 13, but hits a beautiful wedge in and makes the short birdie putt to tie McIlroy at 8 under.

Fred Couples gets to minus-6 with a birdie at the par-5 15th. He was just  off the green in two.

K.J. Choi looking at a 10-footer to save par at No. 11. He misses and drops to 7 under and out of the lead.

Phil Mickelson birdies the 10th to get to 3 under. Ten usually isn't considered a birdie hole, so that's a good sign for Phil.

Rory McIlroy takes advantage of the first par-5 by birdieing No. 2 and going to 8 under.

Fred Couples is no fool — he lays up. And hits a gorgeous wedge to about 15 feet. But he can't make the birdie putt.

Fred Couples' drive on 13 looks a little short. Not sure if he'll try — or even want to — go for the green in two.

Charl Schwartzel has posted a 36-hole total 0f 140, 4 under par. he shot a second-round 71.

Phil Mickelson bogeys 5 and 6, then birdies 7. With three bogeys and two birdies, he's 1 over for the day, 1 under for the tourney. He needs to birdie the par-5 eighth.

Front pin position at 13, but the water level in the creek is low and there's enough grass on the bank to keep most balls up.

We have a new leader. K.J. Choi goes to 8 under with a birdie at the par-3 sixth. Meanwhile, Y.E. Yang is headed in the wrong direction, chalking up his second straight bogey at No. 10 to fall back to minus-6.

Ricky Barnes birdied all four par-5 holes on Thursday and started with a birdie at the second on Friday, but he then took a bogey at No. 8.

Fred Couples with a birdie at the seventh to get to minus-4 and onto the first page of the leaderboard. Couples is the all-time scoring leader at Augusta.

Y.E. Yang bogeys the ninth and falls back to minus-7. He's tied for the lead with K.J. Choi and Rory McIlroy.

Y.E. Yang gets to 8 under with a birdie on the par-5 eighth. He laid up in two, then hit a lovely pitch to a pin set on the back of the green, and made the putt.

Ricky Barnes joins the leaders at 7 under with his third birdie of the day, at the par-3 sixth.

Phil on the second: Huge drive, nice iron to about 20 feet, cozies up the putt for a tap-in birdie. He's 3 under.

The tee is well forward at the par-4 fourth, and the pin position is front left. In addition to Yang, Ricky Barnes also birdied it, and has gotten to minus-6, one shot off the lead.
