Casie Cathrea, who earned her spot in the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge in Danville, Calif., by finishing second in a Monday qualifier, aced the 165-yard 12th hole. She finished with a 2-over-par 74.
"I hit a 5-iron," Cathrea said. I didn't really know it went in until my caddie talked to me about it."
Cathrea, a high school freshman from Livermore, Calif., who is the second-youngest golfer to ever qualify for an LPGA Tour event, said it was her third hole-in-one.
There was one disappointing aspect to it, she said. The tournament offers a car as a prize for a hole-in-one on No. 12, but she couldn't accept it without losing her amateur status.
