Golf companies are bombarding Rory McIlroy's parents with clubs

Nike made the surprising announcement earlier this month that the company will transition out of making golf clubs, bags and balls — which means Nike-sponsored stars like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are going to have to find new clubs to play.

That might sound like a simple task, but switching clubs is a major undertaking for professional players, and many (including McIlroy) have struggled after changing what's in the bag. McIlroy revealed Wednesday at Bethpage Black that a number of club manufacturers have already started sending free clubs to his parents' house.

Although McIlroy could certainly receive a huge payday by signing a deal with a clubmaker, he currently plans to spend a season as a free agent and explore his options.
