Tiger Woods' niece made her pro debut Thursday in the LPGA Championship, admitting to nerves as she shot a 3-over-par 75.
She trails a trio of unlikely leaders in Beatriz Recari, Ryann O'Toole, and Giulia Sergas, who each shot 3-under 69 to share the lead after the opening round.
Cheyenne Woods only turned pro three weeks ago but her famous name has already guaranteed her attention usually reserved for the game's elite.
The 21-year-old said she was nervous before playing her first shot as a pro at the Locust Hill Country Club but enjoyed the experience nonetheless, USA Today reported.
"I was really excited going into today. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for this day," she said. "I was very nervous with my first tee shot but I was so glad to be out there.
"I was pretty happy with how I played today," she added. "There were a few blips here and there, but I had a good day."
She said her famous relative had been giving her advice.
"And [Tiger] has been very supportive and told me to trust my abilities, have fun and be patient," she said.
The daughter of Tiger Woods' half-brother Earl Woods Jr., Cheyenne Woods ended her college career as Wake Forest University's all-time top scorer, averaging 73.31 over her four years and capturing two collegiate tournament victories.
She recently signed with Excel Sports Management, where Tiger Woods is the star client of Mark Steinberg's golf division.
