OLDSMAR, Fla. (AP) Alise Post won her sixth consecutive BMX national championship while Connor Fields won his third title, each of them stamping themselves as favorites to make the U.S. team for the Rio Olympics.
Post, from St. Cloud, Minnesota, swept her three moto runs Sunday before going wire-to-wire in the elite final. She was followed across the line by Brooke Crain, her teammate on the 2008 London Olympics team, with rising star Felicia Stancil taking bronze.
Fields, from Henderson, Nevada, also swept his moto runs before falling behind Corben Sharrah in the final. Fields found some room on the inside on the final straightaway to pass for the lead, and then held off Sharrah for gold. Defending champion Nic Long took bronze.
