LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) The European Cycling Union says Brian Cookson will seek re-election as president of cycling's world governing body in 2017.
Cookson was elected president of the UCI in September 2013, defeating incumbent Pat McQuaid.
The Briton told delegates at the UEC annual congress in Portugal on Sunday that he intends to run for another term next year.
A statement released by the UEC said Monday that Cookson ''informed member national federations that he intended to apply for another and final mandate of four years'' as UCI president.
