BMC Racing wins opening team time trial at Tirreno-Adriatico

LIDO DI CAMAIORE, Italy (AP) American squad BMC Racing won the opening team trial stage at the Tirreno-Adriatico race on Wednesday, putting Daniel Oss into the leader's blue jersey.
Italian rider Oss led BMC over the finish line two seconds faster than Etixx-QuickStep after a 22.7-kilometer (14.1 miles) ride.
French squad FDJ was third, nine seconds slower than the BMC mark of just under 24 minutes.
The BMC team included Tejay van Garderen and Taylor Phinney of the United States, who were second and fourth respectively in the first overall standings.

The seven-day Tirreno-Adriatico event continues Thursday with a 207-kilometer (129-mile) ride from Camaiore to Pomarance.
