Young LSU fan whom Les Miles befriended has passed away

It's a sad day for the family of LSU fan Sid Ortis.

The 16-year-old Tigers supporter -- who had been battling osteosarcoma, or bone cancer, for more than a year -- passed away early Saturday, according to his mother.

Ortis' condition is rare in children, as only around 400 people under the age of 20 suffer from the illness. 

The young Tiger fan sent out this tweet only two weeks ago:
