With success comes primetime scheduling -- and rowdier road crowds

The TCU Horned Frogs have become one of America's most popular college football programs. And with that comes primetime scheduling on television. That means night games, and on the road it usually means larger and rowdier crowds.

The No. 3 Horned Frogs (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) have already quieted big night crowds at Minnesota, Texas Tech and last week at Kansas State. On Saturday, they're sure to draw another raucous crowd at Iowa State (2-3 1-1 Big 12), whose fans will be cheering the Cyclones on for a potential upset of the playoff-hopeful Frogs.

That game, TCU's seventh consecutive game since the season opened, kicks off at 7 p.m. ET.

"Yeah, I think it's a compliment, but it makes it tougher," TCU coach Gary Patterson told reporters about the playing on the road at night. "Because those night games, there's more emotion. When you play in the daytime, the crowd is not as fired up, the team is not as fired up. It takes more energy on your part to go play those games."
