Courtland Marriner ran for two touchdowns and Mike Callahan passed for two as William & Mary beat Richmond 41-3 Saturday and earned an automatic berth into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

The Tribe (8-3, 6-2 Colonial Athletic Association) had lost five straight to the Spiders and fell behind 3-0 in the first quarter, but took over as Marriner scored on 5- and 18-yard runs. Callahan added a 23-yard touchdown pass to Chase Hill for a 21-3 halftime lead.

Callahan threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Alex Gottlieb and Dave Kuhn added two field goals for William & Mary, which had 616 yards total offense to 263 for Richmond (6-5, 4-4). Callahan was 17-of-22 for 331 yards passing.

The Tribe finished with the same conference record as Delaware (9-2, 6-2), which lost 28-21 in overtime to Villanova on Saturday. The Tribe gets the automatic berth because it defeated Delaware 17-16 on Oct. 3.
