What the Gators said about last week's win

There is a certain sense of positivity and confidence surrounding the Florida football program at the moment. The team looked enthused to play this past Saturday, and the excitement in "The Swamp" was palpable, from the stands to the Gator Walk.

Multiple Gators spoke about the team in general, and how things are transpiring in regards to different areas on the squad. 

"It was great for [the offensive line]," said Mason Halter. "As an offensive line, we came in here to prove a point and I think we did that. We showed that we were very capable. In the weeks coming, we're going to keep showing that we're capable."

Florida's OL paved the way for the Gators to rush for 224 yards on 42 carries in the season opener versus New Mexico State. Consistently, the offensive front was able to open up holes for likes of Jordan Scarlett and Kelvin Taylor to exploit. 

When speaking about the atmosphere of the stadium on game day, the impact of the loud crowd was evident. 

"Last year, you saw some empty seats," said Brandon Powell. "When I scored my touchdown, I could barely hear. It was crazy in the Swamp [versus New Mexico State]. It motivates us and gets you hyped."

Halter transferred to the program from Fordham. Understandably so, the difference in venue is considerable. 

"It was awesome. Coming out to 90,000 is pretty crazy. I'm used to about 85,000 less than that at Fordham. The fans are excited about the McElwain era."
