Vols send top recruiter to visit recent five-star decommit Kongbo

Tennessee is not about to give up its pursuit of five-star junior college defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo, despite his recent decommitment from the Volunteers. Kongbo quickly turned into one of the nation's most sought after prospect after originally committing to the Vols, garnering offers from nearly every elite college football program around the country.

The NCAA mandated dead period ended Wednesday night at midnight and Tennessee came calling first thing Thursday morning. Running back coach and recruiting coordinator Robert Gillespie made an in-home visit to see the nation's No. 1 ranked JUCO prospect, according to 247Sports, and wanted to show the talented defensive end that the Vols still wanted to see him suit up in orange and white.

Kongbo appears to appreciate the visit, however it won't be easy for the Vols to land the defensive end's signature come signing day. With offers ranging from Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Florida, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and just about every other big time program, Kongbo has a difficult choice to make.

Can the relationship formed with the Tennessee staff keep him in the fold or will he look for somewhere else to play in the coming weeks? Whatever happens, you can't fault the Vols for not showing the talented prospect how bad they want him on their team.
