Unbeaten Harvard holds off Columbia 24-16
NEW YORK (AP) Scott Hosch threw two touchdown passes, Justice Shelton-Mosely returned a punt 86 yards for a score and Harvard held off a fourth-quarter surge to beat Columbia 24-16 on Saturday to win its 22nd straight game and 16th consecutive Ivy League contest.
Hosch was 22 of 39 for 324 yards and an interception for Harvard (8-0, 5-0), with TD passes of 53 yards to Ben Braunecker and 26 yards to Shelton-Mosely for a 14-3 halftime lead. Braunecker had seven catches for 130 yards and Shelton-Mosey caught eight for 131 yards.
Shelton-Mosely's 86-yard punt return early in the fourth quarter was the third-longest in school history.
Columbia (2-6, 1-4) scored twice in the fourth, on a 51-yard pass from Anders Hill to Cameron Dunn, and on a 3-yard pass on fourth-and-2 from Skyler Mornhinweg to John Hunton.
Columbia clinched its eighth straight losing season and its 40th in the past 43 years.
