The wait is over: Tennessee officially signs Kongbo

Published Feb. 11, 2016 2:59 p.m. ET

Tennessee fans, you can now breathe easy.

Butch Jones had the entire fan base singing "Rocky Top" on signing day -- as the No. 1 junior college prospect in the country -- Jonathan Kongbo -- committed to the Volunteers' program.

There was one minor problem...Kongbo never officially signed his letter of intent. Rumors swirled in the aftermath of signing day -- revolving around the possibility he may have changed his mind (instead opting potentially for Ole Miss).

However, Kongbo eased those concerns and signed his letter of intent, via a report from 247Sports. The stud athlete was simply waiting for his father to return from a trip in order to make it official.

Shy Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie figure to patrol the interior of the starting unit -- with Derek Barnett and potentially Kongbo on the edges. UT also is equipped with Quay Picou, Dimarya Mixon, Danny O'Brien, Corey Vereen, and Kyle Phillips.

Without question, Tennessee possesses the most talent of any program in the country along the defensive line.
