Lee Pace has been covering the Tar Heels for a quarter of a century, but he had to go back way further than that to dig up all this.

On Wednesday morning, Pace began chronicling the UNC football team's uniform history, starting with this photo from 1983.

Pace shared this intriguing snapshot from the 1950s, when the Tar Heels wore ram horns on their helmets.

The first color photograph Pace shared was from the 1970s, allowing us a chance to marvel at the classic Carolina blue.

Fast forwarding to more modern times, Pace posted a picture from the late 1990s, when the Heels first implemented heavy doses of navy blue.

As a reminder, here are some photos of the uniforms North Carolina will wear in 2015, courtesy of assistant equipment manager Jason Freeman.
