Minnesota defensive back Troy Stoudermire has been granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA that will allow him to return for a fifth season with the Golden Gophers.

The school made the announcement Friday.

Stoudermire started the first four games last season before going down with a broken forearm. He had two interceptions in the four games and will return as the Big Ten's career leader in kickoff return yards.

Stoudermire released a statement through the school saying he was excited to hear the news and is looking forward to rejoining the team for workouts.
