Saturday Night was Literally Perfect for Ohio State

Total domination by Ohio State.

It finally happened. After a long stretch of boring football and a stale offense, Ohio State finally exploded. After the game it was hard to do anything but smile.

To sum it all up – Ohio State played a Prime-Time game in perfect football weather on National TV against a Top-10 opponent in awesome throwback/alternate jerseys in front of several 5-Star recruits and won 62-3. Oh yeah, and the ‘Shoe was absolutely electric.

Saturday night gave the vibe of a team that respects and embraces their storied tradition, but at the same time is ‘cutting edge’ and modern. I don’t know if it was the jerseys, the play-style, or what… But I LOVED it.

When I say that Saturday Night was ‘literally perfect,’ I mean that with everything. It could not have went any better. I mean, the Buckeyes were up so much that they brought in the backup QB against a Top-10 team. And he was nothing short of incredible. Joe Burrow completed every pass he threw & he ran for a TD as well.

It was that kind of night for the Buckeyes.

JT Barrett led the way with a very strong performance. The redshirt Junior threw for 290 yards and 4 touchdowns on 26/38 passing. Ohio State’s play-calling improved in the last week – and so did the level of play. My personal favorite play was the JT jump pass at the goal line – but there were plenty to choose from. I was beyond happy to see the Buckeyes taking deep shots, despite the fact that Nebraska’s secondary is good.

Curtis Samuel is really good at football. The Junior had 178 total yards and 2 TD’s. People like to compare Curtis Samuel to Percy Harvin at Florida, but I hate that comparison. I hate it because Curtis Samuel is a lot better than Percy Harvin.

Offensive stats are very attractive, but the Buckeyes defense deserves a lot of credit. Not only did the Silver Bullets actually score 2 TD’s on their own, but they held the Cornhuskers to just 3 points. Honestly, Nebraska was lucky to get those 3. Thanks to a bogus penalty on Gareon Conley, and a tipped pass that landed in the hands of a Nebraska WR – the drive was kept alive. If it wasn’t for these two unlikely plays, the Huskers would have been forced to punt and never would’ve had the FG.

More from Scarlet and Game

Speaking of punts, where has Cam Johnston been? Oh, that’s right… He didn’t have to punt because Ohio State’s offense never got into a punting situation.

I don’t know if there could have been a better night to host as many recruits as the Buckeyes did. Everything about it was absolutely perfect. The ‘Shoe was rocking, Ohio State looked incredible, and so did their jerseys. As a recruit how could you leave that place and not have a dream that night about being a Buckeye?

Possibly more important than anything, is timing. Urban Meyer just has a knack for coaching. It’s something that not many people can do, but Urban is one of them.

From what it looks like, Ohio State is ready to peak at the perfect time. The offense had it’s breakthrough, and the defense is legit.

All I know, is if they play like they did on Saturday against Michigan…. Well, let’s just say I like the Buckeyes’ chances.
