Report: Floyd clears hurdle to play

Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd was looking ahead to football in the fall Saturday after the school's disciplinary arm decided not to suspend him following his recent DUI charge.

Floyd, the school's all-time leader in touchdown catches, was cleared to play following a definitive hearing Friday with the Office of Residence Life, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The body instead opted to issue him community service as punishment, Irish Illustrated reported, despite his record showing previous citations for underage drinking.

His latest run-in with the law came last month, when he was arrested on the school's campus and later charged after registering a blood-alcohol content of .19, more than twice the Indiana legal limit, when he was pulled over and tested after running a stop sign.

Irish coach Brian Kelly suspended Floyd indefinitely after the incident. He may still decide to discipline Floyd further; the 21-year-old player still faces a court hearing May 2.
