QB Will Grier officially files appeal for year-long ban

Former Florida starting quarterback Will Grier has officially filed an appeal over his one-year suspension from the NCAA ruling in October. 

Grier had tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug earlier this season. Announced on Oct. 12, Grier insisted that he unknowingly used a supplement containing a substance banned by the NCAA. As such, he's aiming at reducing the year-long ruling. If it were to hold, Grier would be suspended for the first six games of the 2016 season. 

Prior to his suspension, the North Carolina native was playing exceptionally well. He had accrued 10 touchdown tosses and 1,204 yards passing in only six games. Treon Harris has since taken over the duties as the starting signal-caller -- after initially losing the competition to Grier earlier in the year.
