Pinkel talks Arkansas State on Wednesday

Head coach Gary Pinkel addressed the media via teleconference Wednesday afternoon, with opponent Arkansas St. on the agenda.

According to Pinkel, Arkansas State's 55-6 loss at Southern Cal is a bit deceiving from a score standpoint. The Red Wolves figure to provide Mizzou with a stiff test.

"Arkansas St. is a very good football team," said Pinkel. "They forced four turnovers versus USC and had over 400 yards of total offense. The score isn't indicative of how the game went. They've got good players and have been to four bowls in a row."

Traveling away to a smaller school isn't always the easiest thing. The venue is generally more intimate, which means the fans will be closer to the field. Missouri has played some non-conference opponents in St. Louis for neutral site games. There was a thought this contest could ultimately be played there, but it wasn't meant to be.

"We thought this game might go [to St. Louis] but [Arkansas St.] decided they wanted to play at home. It's a good venue and we're hoping we'll get a lot of fans there, and we're excited about playing."

Arkansas St. will likely want to atone for the lopsided loss in week one. Playing its first home game of the season versus SEC competition surely will have the crowd in a frenzy. Missouri will have to work through these challenges in order to win. Pinkel appears confident in his team.

"I think we got the potential to be a significantly better football team than we are now, we just have to keep working hard and getting better."
