Orth playing at high level for South Carolina
Although South Carolina has gone 1-2 in its past three games, the offense (and team) is performing at a much higher clip.
Moral victories don't mean much in the way of success, but the Gamecocks have demonstrated improvement during their last two losses against Texas A&M and Tennessee (by a combined 10 points). A main culprit for this productivity is signal-caller Perry Orth.
He was given the stamp of approval by interim head coach Shawn Elliott when he took over the job from the departed Steve Spurrier. Equipped with terrific leadership skills, Orth's job was to bring stability to a position in desperate need of some -- and thus far he's delivered in the Elliott era.
In the last three games, Orth has thrown for a combined 697 yards and four touchdowns. He's done a fair job of holding onto the football, and has truly given South Carolina the ability to be successful in each game he's started since Elliott has become the interim coach.
With rival Florida coming to town this weekend, Orth would like nothing more than to engineer a victory against the SEC East Division champions.
