Thomas DeMarco rushed for two touchdowns, both coming in a 21-point first quarter, and Old Dominion went on to defeat Hampton 28-14 Saturday.

DeMarco, who also completed 21 of 33 passes for 182 yards and another touchdown, scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards.

The Monarchs (5-3) got a big lift from their special teams unit, which blocked two punts in the first half. Colby Goodwyn recovered one in the end zone only 57 seconds after DeMarco had given Old Dominion its first points.

Down 14-0 less than six minutes into the game, the Pirates (5-3) never recovered on a day when each team lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions.
