Ohio State Will Make History vs Wisconsin
An Ohio State win will be historic.
Ohio State and Wisconsin have a long history. The two Big Ten teams will clash in Madison on Saturday, but for the first time since 1954 – both are ranked in the AP Top-10.
Through 5 games this season, the Badgers have already beaten two Top-10 opponents. You’ve got to give credit to Wisconsin HC Paul Chryst for preparing his team for big games.
You can give Paul Chryst all the credit you want, but he is no Urban Meyer.
As a matter of fact, Urban Meyer is about to make history himself. The Ohio State head coach has 159 wins in his first 15 seasons as a head coach which is currently 2nd in NCAA history. He has (at least) 7 games left this season to get to 160 which would tie Bob Stoops’ record. Meyer averages just above 11 wins per season which is unheard of.
But that’s not the only history Urban Meyer can make on Saturday. With a win vs Wisconsin, he would be 20-0 in true road games at OSU. Only one coach in the history of the sport has done this.
His name is Walter Camp. The “Father of American Football” started his coaching career with 25 consecutive road wins. With just four road games left this year, Wisconsin, Penn State, Maryland, and Michigan State, Urban won’t get the opportunity to get Walter Camp’s record this year.
More from Scarlet and Game
Urban Meyer is 55-4 during his tenure in Columbus, and there are no signs of that slowing down anytime soon.
The first QB that Urban Meyer signed at Ohio State was a guy that he never saw throw in person. According to Meyer, Tom Herman and Trent Dilfer sold JT Barrett to Urban Meyer. Little did Meyer know at the time, he was signing the best quarterback in Ohio State history.
Urban Meyer isn’t the only one with a chance to make history against the Badgers. The RS junior, JT Barrett, has 86 touchdowns heading into Madison on Saturday.
If he accounts for 3 scores, he will have set the record for most touchdowns in Ohio State history. Braxton Miller currently holds the record at 88.
Winning a Top-10 match-up against Wisconsin at Camp Randall is a resume builder in itself, but for Urban Meyer and JT Barrett – they could be rewriting the history books.
