North Texas runs past Louisiana-Monroe 38-21
Derek Thompson threw three touchdown passes and Lance Dunbar rushed for 139 yards Saturday as North Texas defeated Louisiana-Monroe 38-21.
Thompson completed 23 of 39 passes for 332 yards and had TD passes of 9 and 13 yards to Chris Bynes, and 40 yards to Brelan Chancellor. Bynes had eight receptions for 85 yards, while Chancellor finished with five receptions for 113 yards.
Dunbar added a 60-yard scoring run for the Mean Green (3-5, 2-2 Sun Belt), and had four catches for 50 yards. He now has 3,781 career rushing yards and 1,014 receiving yards - becoming the 25th player in NCAA history to top 3,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving.
Louisiana-Monroe (2-5, 1-2) tied the game at 21 on an 8-yard run by Jyruss Edwards in the third quarter. The Warhawks also scored on a 100-yard kick return by Luther Ambrose to open the game and a 15-yard run by Centarius Donald.
