For the second straight game, the Nebraska football team is allowing an under talented opponent to stay in the game longer than they should.

For the second straight week, it’s the Huskers offense that is far more of the problem than  the defense. In fact, the Huskers defense has been incredibly good for most of the first half. Wyoming couldn’t convert numerous third and short first downs.

Down 17-0, Wyoming completed a 3rd and long, with a 35 yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to Tanner Gentry at the end of the half. Had Nebraska stopped that pass, we’d be talking about how completely NU had dominated the first half.

Instead, we’re talking about Wyoming who does indeed look like a team that should go bowling this year, getting the longest offensive play of the year against Nebraska. Considering they get the ball out of the half, that becomes a real problem.

That absolutely indefensible interception from the Wyoming five yard line from Tommy is looming quite large right now. had that even been a field goal instead of a turnover, it would be 20-7 and this game would have a different feel.

Wyoming is clearly loading up the box and daring Nebraska to throw the ball. Tommy Armstrong, at 18 pass attempts has already thrown it almost twice as many times as he did in week one. Of course, last week, the team almost exclusively ran and was only up 14-10.

Perhaps that bodes well for the Nebraska football team. Perhaps this is a squad that is a second half team. Still, two straight games where the offense just doesn’t look that good, with a string of very good teams coming up, should make Nebraska football fans very nervous.
