Michael Brewer looks like Virginia Tech's guy at quarterback

Before spring practices, some wondered if 2014 starter Michael Brewer would be Virginia Tech's top signal-caller again in 2015. Perhaps last year's backup, Brandon Motley, would be able to push Brewer for the starting job.
Instead, Brewer solidified his status as the team's best passer, according to Andy Bitter of the Roanoke Times. In fact, Brewer was named Virginia Tech's most improved offensive player.
"Every coach in the country would take that from their quarterback," Bitter wrote about the recognition Brewer received. "And it was deserved. There were brief concerns early in the spring when Brewer had to be sidelined for a week because of a back strain, but he came back with a purpose, throwing for five touchdowns and over 200 yards in the very next scrimmage."
Bitter also noted that this was Brewer's first spring with the Hokies, after finalizing his transfer from Texas Tech late last May. A full offseason could yield a more complete mastery of Tech's offense in 2015.
