Marist rolls over Davidson 42-14
Chuckie Looney threw for 283 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns, helping Marist to pull away from Davidson for a 42-14 win on Saturday.
Marist (4-3, 3-1 Pioneer Football League) and Davidson (0-7, 0-4) played a close first half before Marist scored four touchdowns in the second half while limiting the Wildcats to a single score.
The Red Foxes took a 15-8 lead into halftime before Emmanuel Onakoya's 41-yard touchdown run in the third quarter opened a 21-8 advantage. Looney added touchdown passes of 16 yards and 44 yards in the fourth quarter.
Cameron Gibson had a 78-yard interception return with less than a minute left in the game for Marist's final score.
Onakoya scored twice, and Atiq Lucas led Marist with a career-high 131 yards and a touchdown.
Jeff McDaniels had eight receptions for 87 yards, and caught both of the Wildcats' touchdown passes to lead Davidson.
