Mangino: At Kansas, 'I was just going to have to bite the bullet'

After going 12-1 and winning the Orange Bowl in 2007, Kansas coach Mark Mangino earned a raise and contract extension that would keep him in Lawrence through the 2012 season.

It seemed like a new era for Jayhawks football.

But by December 2009, Mangino and KU were agreeing on a $3 million settlement in the wake of him resigning amid allegations that he mistreated his players.

Three years away from football for Mangino followed before he returned to his alma mater, Youngstown State, as associate head coach in 2013. Now, Mangino is back in the Big 12 after being hired as offensive coordinator at Iowa State.

Mangino joined The Audible with Bruce Feldman to discuss why he's proud of his work at Kansas and didn't choose to publicly fight the perceptions around his settlement and exit, his new opportunity at Iowa State, life lessons learned working on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and more.
