Maintaining health the biggest key for Illini

Tim Beckman says he did not consider canceling the spring game this past Saturday despite mounting injuries to his team looking to take another step forward this season.

The biggest injuries came in non-contact drills when star wide receiver Mike Dudek and promising running back Dre Brown both went down with torn ACLs. Just how bad has the injury bug hit this team? 15 players sat out the game forcing many players along the defensive line to play for both teams.

Coach Beckman's team escaped the spring game injury free and he was happy to get his team in a game situation per the Chicago Tribune:

"I thought it was important for our football team to compete against one another," he said.
