LSU coach Les Miles' mother dies at 91
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) LSU football coach Les Miles' mother has died. She was 91.
University spokesman Michael Bonnette says Martha Miles, died Friday night, less than 24 hours before the No. 24 Tigers hosted third-ranked Mississippi.
She was in an assisted living home,
Martha Miles lived for many years in Elyria, Ohio, where Les Miles was raised before playing college football at Michigan under coach Bo Schembechler. Miles, who played offensive line for the Wolverines, also got his start in coaching as an assistant under Schembelcher.
The coach's father, Hope ''Bubba'' Miles, died in 2000.
Miles has been LSU's coach since 2005 and entered Saturday night's game against Mississippi with 101 victories, including a national championship to close the 2007 season.
