Louisville Football: Where does Virginia rank among the other ACC teams?
We take a look at Louisville football’s next opponent in Virginia and where they stack up against other team’s in the ACC.
The Louisville football team will be heading down to play the Virginia Cavaliers next Saturday and will be looking to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Cards are currently rated number five in the nation after a great win against NC State and a loss from the previously second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Cavaliers however, are very far from being the in top 25 discussion this season. They have been struggling all season long as they are currently 2-5. Their only wins have come against Duke and Central Michigan, whereas they have lost to Richmond, Oregon, UCONN, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina.
It’s still early in the week, therefore we won’t get too detailed into the Cavaliers just yet, but here is where they stand among other teams in the ACC:
11th in Scoring Offense: 26.3 points per game
14th (last) in Scoring Defense: 32.7 points allowed per game
10th in Total Offense: 381.9 yards per game
14th (last) in Total Defense: 456 yards allowed per game
14th (last) in Rushing Offense: 113.6 yards per game
12th in Rushing Defense: 171 yards allowed per game
Virginia is currently the worst defense in the conference and are horrible at rushing the football. To be more specific, they are not very good on their offensive or defensive lines this season. Louisville should be able to easily take advantage of these mismatches on Saturday.
If you are allowing 171 rushing yards per game to any of the previous seven opponents they have faced this year, then Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals’ offense will tear them apart. This seems like a great game to allow Jeremy Smith to pound the football get back to Louisville 7-1.
