Charlie Strong knew all along he’d have to rely heavily on newcomers at some point this season. From the look of the first three days of preseason camp, the youth movement might begin when he sends out his starting lineups on Sept. 5 at Notre Dame.

Already, two freshmen who enrolled in school last January — middle linebacker Malik Jefferson and right tackle Connor Williams — are running with the first string. Jefferson could be the next Texas stud linebacker, while Williams may be entrenched on the 'Horns offensive line for years to come.

But it doesn't stop there. Texas' weakest spot on the depth chart is receiver, and freshmen could see time there, too. Wide receiver John Burt and tight end DeAndre McNeal have wasted no time in demanding attention as they climb up the depth chart.
